Brief History of the Ancestral House of General Aniceto Lacson
The chapel inside the house is also very significant especially uring the second world war.when the local guirella attemp to burn the house. It is said that the match sticks would not light-up no matter how much they trried and it was attributed to Gods presence in the chapel. The 4 big arches at the back, inside section are the entrance to the large open rooms that were originally used as animals stalls. In the late 30’s and 40’s, this section held the machinery from Europe for pasteurizing and bottling fresh milk and for making butter.During the 1941 Japanese invasion, the Japanese generals did end up staying in this house making it their headquarters an the same with the American generals. Bullets marks in the walls of the house and surrounding walls of the garden can still be seen By 1947,it was back to normal, used by the 2nd eldest daughter of Gen.Lacson, Carmen Lacson married to Ricardo Claparols, a Spaniard from Barcelona, Spain. They had inherited the land but had paid 80.00 pesos for the house. Up until 1970 the house was lived in by one of the daughters of Carmen Lacson Claparols but they had to evacuate the area when the house was hit by a very strong typhoon. The house was repaired soon after and was then made into a tourist destination for about 5 years were people amired all the beautiful antiques jars, tapestries, carpets, marble tables and chairs, chandeliers, paintings, enourmous furniture’s,beds, dressers and mirrors. The dining area had a long table that could sit up to 30 persons. But buy 1978 the decorations for fear of getting damaged or stolen and the house of Gen.A.Lacson was left empty and abandoned.
This house, which is over 100 years old,is indeed very rich in history that needs to be seen an enjoyed by people from the Phillipines and all over the world. It however badly needs to be repaired and restored to its old grandeur.
